Welcome to the Spring Term, after a very busy Autumn Term with Our Evening of The Arts performance, Christmas activities, panto trips, etc. we are looking forward to a more settled term and we can really focus and work hard on our work.

Our first topic will be ‘Our Community’ where we will be learning about what a community is and the roles we play within different communities, we will be looking at the different buildings within a community and the people that can help us. As part of this we will be visiting Wisbech Fire station and also having a visit from a Police Officer to talk to us about staying safe and our behaviour when we are out in the community.

In Science, students will be learning about Light and are looking forward to lots of exploring and experiments including making shadows.

During English we will continue to work on reading, writing, phonics and spoken language skills as well as looking at lists and rhyming words.

For our Maths work, we will be reinforcing our number work as well as learning new skills including using greater than and less than symbols. We will look at place value, multiplication and division, position and direction and statistic skills.

On a Friday afternoon we will continue to work on our Life Skills and students will have the opportunity to take part in cookery lessons, do a bit of housework in the Bungalow or go out into the community to collect our shopping.

If you have any questions or worries please feel free to contact us through the diary, phone call or email nclarke@meadowgate.cambs.sch.uk
